My teaching methods involve coordination of basic body movements with playing movements. An example of a coordination exercise would be to ask the student to walk in time while he/she is playing. This is a fun, easy-to-grasp approach that develops a natural feeling with the instrument . It is helpful with both advanced students and beginners. For advanced students, I emphasize the importance of a good balance between scales, exercises, and performance music. I also include basic music theory …

I specialize in an individualized lesson plan. Because I have learned many different styles of playing, i can cater to what the student wants to learn. With a more mature student I typically work with them to advance themselves to the goals they already have for themselves .

I hope for the best and so encourage his musical experimentation (until the headache creeps up and begs for a quiet, introspective child prone to reading and drawing and other silent activities) with a variety of kid-sized instruments like Melissa and Doug’s piano complete with color-coded keys and songbook.
