Motion Sensors on Bravia TVs Make For Lazy Watchers

This summer, watching TV will become even lazier. And more energy efficient. Thanks to Sony’s soon to be released Bravia WE5 Flat Screen HD , you can watch the Mets all the time and still save money and energy. To achieve these energy savings, the Bravia WE5 uses a micro-tubular HCFL (Hot Cathode Flourescent Lamp) backlight that cuts power consumption by more than 50%, and a Smart Presence Sensor.

The Smart Presence Sensor is what really makes the Bravia WE5 a lazy TV watcher’s dream. And here’s why:

Let’s say you were to leave the den with the TV still on. The Smart Presence Sensor will detect that there is no movement in the room and after 30 minutes, it will automatically go into standby mode. And when you come back in, it will turn back on. If you are concerned the screen will shut off while you are sitting in front of it watching a movie or an important game, have no fear: this sensor registers even the slightest movement, even breathing. and will stay powered on. In the future, hopefully, most TVs will come with this motion detecting future and one day, leaving the TV on all night will be a thing of the past....
