A rugged 106 mile trip through the historic trail systems of the Old West days of Arizona the Mogollon Monster climbs roughly 18,000 feet. The single track traverses and climbs up the 2,000 foot Mogollon Rim several times throughout the race covering red rock country, old growth pines, cactus, mesquite and some very technical terrain. Beautiful, remote, challenging and an Arizona you likely would never have expected.

What is the TR3? It is real mountain biking, and real trail running.

It is a 2.5 mile Trail Run, a 11 mile mountain bike Trail Ride, finishing with a 1.5 mile Trail Run.

The TR³ is open to men, women, and children 16 years or older on race day. There is also a 2 person relay division where a team can have one person do the running, and another do the biking.

This course is composed of wide track decomposed granite paths, dirt roads and twisting narrow single track some of it smooth and fast, and some of it narrow and a little rocky. There is about 1300' total vertical climb in it, so it will make you suffer a bit, but it shouldn't kill you. This is real mountain biking, and real trail running.

Solo divisions will be 16-18, 19-29,30-39,40-49,50+ for men and women. Awards will be give to the top 3 finishers in each division. Relay teams will be all in one division with awards given out to the top 3 places. Overall men's and women's winners will receive trophies.

Students will be utilizing as much time as nature and the weather permits painting en plein air in and around beautiful Sedona with the last 1 1/2 days devoted to working larger or more developed work out of the plein air studies and photo reference.

The issues encountered when transforming field studies to studio pieces will be discussed in full. Jill will demo on alternate days and on the others give either a short lecture or a slide show. We will break down the process of producing a painting into core components: identifying a motif; choosing a design to best complement that motif; identifying the main masses; observing and mixing accurate colors and values; developing the focal point; and finally, effective and interesting paint application. This class is open to all levels but best suited to those students with at least some experience painting en plein air.

Learn to capture the beauty of light! Betty Carr teaches students to accurately portray the effect of light on any subject, both in oil and in watercolor. Students can work in either medium and will explore a variety of locations in beautiful Sedona. This weeklong workshop begins directly following the 9th Annual Sedona Plein Air Festival.
