Races: Half Iron Distance
Swim Course: 1.2-Mile Swim is a 2-loop course in Lake Boutin. "Loops" are rectangular, swimmers make left hand turns. This is a small lake and is generally very calm. Because of the small size of the lake, the course is near the outer parameter of the lake & most participants feel more confident knowing that a shoreline is always less than 200 yards away. Participants will begin with a run-in start from the sandy beach of Lake Boutin. After the first swim loop, participants will run approximately 50 yards on the sandy beach before re-entering the lake to begin the second and final loop of the swim course. After completing the 2nd swim loop, you will follow the winding sidewalk to the transition area. On the swim course map, you can see the portion of the course that you will actually walk/run on the beach, so the swim splits will be fast!
Bike Course: Course is fairly flat with a few gentle rollers and one climb, nicknamed "The Beast". This is a 2-loop course, so you will face "The Beast" 2 times! There are 2 aid stations along the bike course (because it is a 2-loop course, you will actually have 4 aid stations). Each aid station has bottles of water/sports drink. Please familiarize yourself with the USAT Competitive Rules concerning DRAFTING and POSITION.
Run Course: This is a 1-loop course. It is fairly flat with a few gentle rollers. You will also face "The Beast" along the run course. Aid stations are available at every approximately every 1.5 miles.
