Brooklyn mosquitoes are serious. Really. They’re not joking. These urban bloodsuckers ambushed my ankles in a surprise attack during a spring BBQ a few weeks ago and it took days for the itch to subside. Summer was weeks away and so I had yet to prepare for these pests. I was vulnerable and unarmed, without a drop of bug spray on my body. Never again. For the rest of the season, I will be doused in Burt’s Bee’s Herbal Insect Repellent , my favorite all-natural (read: no DEET, no chemicals, no parabens) anti-bug potion. This stuff is strong enough to keep even the toughest New York mosquitoes at bay, yet gentle enough to slather all over a toddler....
